Emily Von Peer hopes she never meets the man of her dreams.
For years, she’s been haunted by visions of an unknown lover. But after the death of her aunt and her return to her family’s estate, the dreams change. Every night she sees her imaginary lover die in her arms, until she comes face to face with him in broad daylight.
Nicholas Flynn is an Agent of Paladin, an enterprise dedicated to the study and eradication of demons. Seeking answers to a slew of magically related murders, including her aunt’s, Emily joins him in the investigation.
When their exchange with a demon goes awry, Emily sustains an injury that threatens to turn her into a monster – and thrusts her into the crosshairs of sorcerers, senators, and a seductive stranger who promises eternity.
