After a successful career being other people, and later teaching others the many tricks of that trade, Maer Wilson has decided to be herself for a while. Turns out she’s a writer. She’s always loved stories, especially fantasy, mystery and sci fi. She has a dragon-themed room in her home, but sadly no dragons in the back yard.
Maer has a BA from CSU Fullerton, where she majored in Theatre Arts. As a former, professional, stage actor in Southern California, she gave over three thousand performances in an eight-year span. This experience helped tremendously with creating the characters in her books.
Maer founded Ellysian Press in 2014. It’s a Speculative Fiction House with award-winning books in Sci Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Paranormal. EP now has five partners, with R.A. McCandless, David A. Gray, Jenn Nixon and Johnathan Clayborn joining the team. EP is known for it’s rigorous editing, close relationships with its authors and beautiful covers.
EP created a new imprint in 2025, which released its first book July, 2025. Evoke Press covers many genres that Ellysian does not. Neither imprint accept children’s books, erotica or christian fiction.
While Maer writes cross-genre urban fantasy/ science fiction, she also dips into horror and paranormal mysteries. An avid gamer, her current game of choice is World of Warcraft.
Maer was also the founder and original co-producer and co-host for the literary podcast, MythBehaving. Rob McCandless and Jenn Nixon now run the podcast, which still produces fantastic interviews with literary professionals.
Maer’s books include Relics, Portals, and Magics, Books 1, 2, and 3 in the Modern Magics series. There are also four novelettes in the series – “Ghost Memory,” “Unwanted Ghost,” “Ghost Dancer,” and “Wedding Ghost”, as well as a short story, “Lost Ghost,” found in the collection, Ghosts of Modern Magics. You can find all books and novelettes in the Modern Magics series at Amazon.
Maer released Apocalypta Z, a unique take on the zombie genre, in October, 2015. Her critically acclaimed memoir/biography, The Other Side of Philip K. Dick was released August, 2016. She was named 2015 Fantasy Author of the Year by AuthorClassifieds.com.
