The Writing Process Blog Hop

Book Fort Trea1

One of the perks of writing is to be able to create book forts. This was my first one with my debut novel, Relics, and my chihuahua, Tréa. It symbolizes what I do in a unique (and fun) way. So how did I get invited to this blog hop? Why, through the author Larry Crane! Let’s find out some more about him. 🙂

Larry Crane

AuthorPicZTransplanted to Maine mid-westerner Larry Crane brings a Heartland sensibility to his writing. Larry graduated from West Point, served in the Army, and commuted to Wall Street from New Jersey. His writing includes articles for outdoor magazines, stage plays, short fiction, and his most recent thriller novel, A Bridge to Treachery. Crane is a volunteer videographer for his local Public Access Television Station. Larry and wife Jan now live on the coast of Maine.

Larry is also the author of Baghdad on the Wabash and Other Plays and Stories, an unconventional collection of stories that capture “slice of the life” looks at quirky couples. Both are available at Amazon.

Last week Larry talked about his own writing process on his blog. Be sure to check that out!

As part of this fun event, I’m interviewing the awesome Shane KP O’Neill about his newest book in his Dracula Chronicles series, The Path to Decay. I’ve already had the pleasure of reading several of the short stories in this series and they are a must-read for any fan of the genre – me, included!

Shane KP O’Neill

Shane KP O'Neill

Shane KP O’Neill is the writer of The Dracula Chronicles, a new and exciting series adding a fresh dimension to the Dracula legend, which combines the real historical Vlad Dracula with a new and different version of Dracula the vampire. He has released the series in two arcs, one that follows Dracula the man and the other following Dracula the vampire.

The author developed a fascination with Dracula from an early age. Like many others he was enthralled by Christopher Lee’s portrayal of him on the big screen. It was in his late teens that he discovered Dracula the man and the love affair began from there. An avid lover of history, he studied the period in which the real historical Vlad Dracula lived, 15th Century Balkan, for many years. It followed from there then that with his love of writing he would always choose Dracula as his subject. He built a concept and premise where he could accommodate both Dracula the vampire and Dracula the man.

Away from writing, the author has a wide range of interests. He reads a lot of books from a wide variety of authors, though his main interest lies in the horror genre. His love of books is matched only by his love of the countryside and of course, his family.  As an added note, he has lived and traveled all over the world. He has a love for all things historical, with a particular fascination for medieval Europe. Anywhere he travels, he likes to search out locations with an historical interest and will always hunt for the ruins of an old castle before heading to the beach.

Today we welcome the talented, gracious and lovely author, Olga Nunez Miret. Her background as a Forensic Psychiatrist gives her writing authenticity and depth.

maersiteaboutheauthor

Olga Nunez Miret

Olga is from Barcelona but has lived in the UK for over 20 years.

She is a doctor and her day job is as a Forensic Psychiatrist (not exactly like the profilers in the movies, or anything to do with CSI either), but she has also completed a degree in American Literature at the University of Sussex (including a year abroad at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts) and a PhD on the Films of David Mamet. She was also a teaching assistant whilst completing the PhD, mostly on Film courses.

Olga has loved reading and writing since she was a child. Due to the many distractions (studies and jobs) she has never fully dedicated herself to the business of writing, but after a minor health scare she decided that there is no time like now. Carpe diem!

Her main love is fiction; she has written in a variety of genres (crime, family saga, para-normal, science-fiction…) and she is currently working on a series for young adults.

Apart from reading and writing, she loves the cinema, the theater (modern, classic, musicals…), fitness classes (and more recently also yoga), walking, crochet, and owls.

Read on for more about Olga and her newest novel…

I’m pleased to welcome the fascinating Delora Dennis into the spotlight. She’s used her own personal experiences of living in a funeral home (among others) to her advantage. Find out how!

maersiteaboutheauthor

Delora Dennis

Believe it or not, Delora Dennis was born in a funeral home. She lived her own version of Six Feet Under, in Belen, New Mexico, growing up around embalming rooms, dead bodies, and caskets. But beyond this unusual fact, Delora has enjoyed a very normal life.

An inauspicious launch of her writing career took place at the tender age of nine, with the production of her play (with a long-since forgotten title) by her elementary school’s Home and School Association. Of course, the trajectory of said launch didn’t exactly follow a straight path.

Read on for more about Delora and her book!
