Lisa Brackmann was kind enough to be my Guest Host at Mysterious Galaxy last weekend. In this photo, she was reading my Bio aloud to the audience. I love this Bio and can say that because I didn’t write it. 🙂 It was written by a fabulous author who will be a guest on “in the Spotlight” in the near future. More on that later!

Cover Reveal – “Ghost Memory”

Ghost Memory

I’ll be releasing “Ghost Memory”, the first short story prequel to Relics in the very near future. In the meantime here’s the cover reveal for it from that fabulous cover artist, Ida Jansson!

About “Ghost Memory”

La Fi is not having a normal day. She broke someone’s nose, embarrassed her fiancĂ©, Thulu, and now a dead guy is on her doorstep. Although seeing the dead is not unusual for the young medium, since she and Thulu regularly deal with the supernatural. Thulu can find anything that’s lost and the amnesiac ghost is missing money, along with his memory.

Peter Swanson used to stash money throughout his San Francisco home. Now he can’t remember his hiding places, and his aging partner needs the money. That’s not usually a problem for Thulu, but some of the money is missing from the house. Now Thulu and La Fi must broaden the search for cash long gone, and that could prove tricky in more ways than one.

“Ghost Memory” is A Thulukan Chronicles Story (#1) set in the Relics universe.

I’m very excited about returning to Southern California this weekend. I spent 22 years in SoCal. I went to high school there and got my degree from CSU Fullerton. I spent years on the SoCal stage performing for a dinner theatre and children’s repertory theatre in Orange County.

I’m going to be signing books and giving a reading from Relics this Saturday, July 13th at 2:30 PM at  Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach. If you live in SoCal, stop on by and say hi!

I’ll be holding a raffle and giving away a couple of prizes, including a Relics commemorative charm item such as those pictured below. I hope to see you there!

In the Spotlight – Ben Reeder

Ben ReederIt’s a pleasure welcome a fellow gamer and Urban Fantasy author Ben Reeder onto the blog today! Two of my own favorite things, right? Right!

About Ben Reeder

Ben Reeder was born to a military family in Hawai’i, and adopted by another military family. In his quest for adventure, fame and glory, he has done a lot of things, some of them even adventurous. Among his achievements, he’s been in the military, worked as a radio DJ for a college station, worked on a poultry farm, worked with developmentally disabled adults, done security work and worked in a New Age bookstore, to name a few things. Currently he lives with his girlfriend in Springfield, Missouri, where he practices long abandoned skills such as archery and sword fighting and attempts to herd cats. His writing partner, Musaba, a lion laboring under a tragic curse that has transformed him into an orange cat, claims credit for all the good parts of what he writes.

Book Blast Giveaway – The Devil Drinks Coffee

DDC_Front small

Today I’m super excited to join Book Nerd Tours with my very first Book Blast! And what a fab book it is! Check out this fun offering from author Angela Corbett, writing as Destiny Ford!

About The Devil Drinks Coffee

A cow suicide, a revolving door rescue, and the birth of a bright purple pig are starting to make Kate Saxee wonder if taking a job in her small hometown of Branson Falls, Utah, was such a great idea. As The Branson Tribune editor, Kate covers local news, which, more often than not, involves her accident-prone mom. Nothing truly newsworthy has ever happened in the quiet town until local teen Chelsea Bradford turns up dead in a Branson Falls lake.

The police rule Chelsea’s death an accident, but Kate suspects there’s more to the story—and she’s not the only one. Two of Branson’s most eligible bachelors are determined to help her solve the crime—among other things. But the small town social network is faster than Twitter, and gossip about Kate’s love-life is quickly branding her the Branson Falls hussy.

As Kate learns more about Chelsea, she discovers that plenty of people are trying to cover up the real story behind the girl’s death—including Chelsea’s parents. Now Kate has to juggle work, men, her mom’s most recent disaster involving a low-speed John Deere Combine chase on the freeway, and fend off the Mormons heaven-bent on saving her soul—all while solving Chelsea’s murder. Dealing with this is going to require a lot of coffee, chocolate frosted donuts, Neil Diamond’s greatest hits, and a slew of words not on the town approved imitation swear list.

About Angela Corbett (writing as Destiny Ford)

Ang

As a child, Angela Corbett’s most prized possession was a set of read-along books. She used to follow along with the narrator on the stereo and dream of when she would be able to read by herself. Her childhood reading habit led her to consider her future career. However, after consulting with her parents, she realized she had already exceeded hobbit height and since fairies and dragonslayers were tricky jobs to get, she decided she wanted to create worlds of her own. She started writing poetry in elementary school and worked as a journalist in high school and college, but could never leave her love for writing fiction behind.

She is a graduate of Westminster College where she double majored in communication and sociology. She has worked as a journalist, freelance writer, and director of communications and marketing. She loves classic cars, traveling, and escaping in a good book. She lives in Utah with her incredibly supportive husband and their five-pound Pomeranian, Pippin, whose following of fangirls could rival Justin Bieber’s.

Eternal Starling is her debut novel and the first book in the Emblem of Eternity trilogy.
