It’s always a pleasure to meet a new writer and find out about the processes they use in creating their worlds. Today I’m joined by W.L. Sexton, featuring her steamy new novel, Raven’s Quest. This red hot novel (18+) is the first of a series that revolves around three women.

Magical Book Signing! Criss Angel at B&N

What happens when magic comes to Earth? Criss Angel happens!

Criss - Maer1

Barnes & Noble Northwest in Las Vegas held a book signing event for local authors May 18th. I was fortunate to be one of the authors included that day. It was getting near the end of our event when who shows up? Criss Angel! He was there to shoot an episode for his new TV show and we got to see him perform some awesome magic. You might even (or might not) see me on the show, depending on what makes it to final cut. Either way it was the perfect magical ending to a lovely day! Thanks, Criss Angel!

authorphoto2 (426x640) (426x640)Having a book release is an exciting time and today I’m lucky to have the delightful Lindsey R. Loucks as my guest. I’ve been fortunate to get to know Lindsey the last couple months as we were preparing for our books to release and sharing debut author nerves. She loads of fun and her YA supernatural novel, The Grave Winner, is great summer read.

About Lindsey R. Loucks

Lindsey R. Loucks works as a school librarian in rural Kansas. When she’s not discussing books with anyone who will listen, she’s dreaming up her own stories. Eventually her brain gives out, and she’ll play hide and seek with her cat, put herself in a chocolate induced coma, or watch scary movies alone in the dark to reenergize.

She’s been with her significant other for almost two decades.

Read on for more about Lindsey and her fascinating new novel!

Happy Mother’s Day – In Memorium

Mom 1949

Elizabeth Vardiman Wilson

1932-1993

My mother was a fabulous person, role-model and friend. As the oldest child, I had a lot of her attention during my first four years. Our nightly routine included her reading stories and singing songs. Much like many typical moms from the 1950s.

Where my mom differed is when she serenaded me to sleep. That’s when I heard one of the most beautiful voices on the planet. Probably a lot of folks think their mom’s voice is awesome, as they should.

My mother was a professional singer before she got married and had kids. About the time this picture above was taken, she was seventeen and had her own radio show on Sundays back in Kansas. That same year she was offered a contract with the Metropolitan Opera and a film contract in Hollywood. Her mother frowned upon performances outside of church and wouldn’t allow her to take either one. And the world was deprived of one of its most gorgeous voices. There are no remaining recordings of my mother’s voice, but the first time I heard Kiri Te Kanawa’s voice I was stunned at how much she reminded me of my mother.

My mother’s signature song was “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Rodgers & Hammerstein. In honor of my mother, I’m embedding a recording of the fabulous Kiri Te Kanawa singing this song. I hope you enjoy the song I grew up hearing from my mom.
