In the Spotlight – LynDee Walker

LynDee Walker

Fresh from being in the Top Twenty in several Amazon bestseller lists, LynDee Walker has stopped by to tell us about her debut novel, Front Page Fatality, (A Nichelle Clark Headlines in Heels Mystery.) I’ve had the privilege of knowing LynDee for over a year and I’ve gotten to beta read both of her Nichelle Clark novels. It’s been fascinating to watch her dream come true and know that others enjoy her heroine as much as I have.

LynDee grew up in the land of stifling heat and amazing food most people call Texas, and wanted to be Lois Lane pretty much from the time she could say the words “press conference.” An award-winning journalist, she traded cops and deadlines for burp cloths and onesies when her oldest child was born. Writing the Headlines in Heels mysteries gives her the best of both worlds. When not writing or reading, LynDee is usually wrangling children, eating barbecue or enchiladas, or trying to walk off said barbecue and enchiladas. She and her family live in Richmond, Virginia.

Read on to find out more about LynDee and her new book.

In the Spotlight – Patricia C. Lee

P Lee

I’m pleased to welcome author Patricia C. Lee into the spotlight today.

Pat has had a love affair with the written word since childhood, many times immersing herself in the stories of Enid Blyton and Carolyn Keene. Her active imagination gave inspiration to short stories and her first play as a teen.

As an adult she has penned an award winning short story titled “The Battle” and “A Precious Glimpse in Time” published in an anthology. Her full-length play, “The Truth About Lies”, was staged at a theatrical festival competition in 2006.

Although still in pursuit of a place truly called home, Pat currently lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and three cats, all of which claim rule over the house at one point or another.

When her nose isn’t pressed to the laptop monitor, you can find her at the public library. Besides dreaming up her next novel, Pat also enjoys traveling, baking, camping, wine, and of course reading – not necessarily in that order.

In the Spotlight – G.J. Berger

Spain_2009_085

In Spain 2009, Berger wonders what the people who built this place 2000 years ago were thinking and doing.

When G. J. was eight, his mom told him the story of Hannibal crossing the Alps with elephants and a great army. He asked her what happened to Hannibal after that. Mom didn’t know, but he was hooked, had to find out, had to write about it. G. J. spent much of his young life on the road and water, on ocean liners in steerage or working as a crew member on a tramp steamer. Wherever his travels took him, old walls, canals, storage holes deep in the ground made him wonder about how they got there, about the people who put them there, how they lived and got along. The result is this novel, one other on the way to publication, and a third in G. J.’s writing head. The places, the tides of history, some of the characters in South of Burnt Rocks West of the Moon are all as they were, but have never been portrayed in any depth.

In the Spotlight – J.D. Hallowell

jd author pic indie hatToday’s special guest is author J.D. Hallowell. Anyone who knows me will know that the titles alone of his books would spark my interest. I adore dragons. And magic. So it’s a particular pleasure to be able to spotlight J.D. and his series about dragons and magic. I’ve added both of his books to my To Be Read list and hope to get to those very soon!

J.D. Hallowell is a 50-ish father and husband who is fortunate enough to have lived an interesting and active life. He’s had one two-book fantasy series, War of the Blades, published, and several other fantasy and SF projects are in the works. J.D. likes to keep many irons in the fire at once, so his work experiences include such diverse occupations as automotive mechanic, cowboy, photographer, psychiatric tech, paralegal assistant, bouncer, and medical billing clerk. He studied martial arts for over thirty years. He’s been a soldier and an emergency medical technician, and served as the chief of a volunteer ambulance squad. He was a diamond courier for a while, and later owned a working kennel where he trained dogs for law enforcement as well as personal protection. Most recently, J.D. trained one service dog for himself.
