In the Spotlight – Constance Phillips

ConnieConstance Phillips is one of my favorite people and she’s back today to chat with us some more about writing and her historical/paranormal romance, Resurrecting Harry. This was one of my favorite books I read so far this year and I had a few more questions for Constance, her writing process and, of course, her book.

About Constance Phillips

Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, two ready-to-leave-the-nest children, and four canine kids. Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff. When she’s not writing about fairies, shifters, vamps, and guardian angels, she’s working side-by-side with her husband in their hardwood flooring business.

Constance is actively involved in her local Romance Writers of America chapter (MVRWA) and the Southeast Michigan chapter of the United States Pony Club. When not writing or enjoying the outdoors, she loves reality television or can be found at a Rick Springfield concert (just look for the pink Converse high tops).

In the Spotlight – Simon Okill

Simon Tour

Not too long ago I featured a cover reveal for a new novel, Luna Sanguis, a blood-red-hot, 18+ trip to the darker side. Today, the man behind the book, the wonderful and generous Simon Okill, has joined me to share some things about himself and his new novel.

About Simon Okill in His Own Words

I live with my wife, Shirlee Anne and our cat, in a pretty coastal town in South Wales, UK. We both love Stephen King and had read many of his books and enjoyed their transition to the screen. Due to our love of books, my wife and I dabbled in writing for some years as a hobby. We were approached by a film company to write a paranormal TV series. We struggled most nights and all through weekends to come up with 22 episodes only for the company to go bust. Then after an accident at work, I was forced into early retirement due to disability. I used my newfound skills as a writer to help with my depression. We decided to use our TV series episodes as templates for film scripts and novels. My writing became more serious as certain A-list actors expressed interest in my scripts and my debut novel Nobody Loves a Bigfoot Like a Bigfoot Babe was accepted by Christopher Matthews Publishing after so many British publishers turned it down.

Thanks, Lisa Brackmann!

Lisa Brackmann was kind enough to be my Guest Host at Mysterious Galaxy last weekend. In this photo, she was reading my Bio aloud to the audience. I love this Bio and can say that because I didn’t write it. 🙂 It was written by a fabulous author who will be a guest on “in the Spotlight” in the near future. More on that later!

I’m very excited about returning to Southern California this weekend. I spent 22 years in SoCal. I went to high school there and got my degree from CSU Fullerton. I spent years on the SoCal stage performing for a dinner theatre and children’s repertory theatre in Orange County.

I’m going to be signing books and giving a reading from Relics this Saturday, July 13th at 2:30 PM at  Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach. If you live in SoCal, stop on by and say hi!

I’ll be holding a raffle and giving away a couple of prizes, including a Relics commemorative charm item such as those pictured below. I hope to see you there!

In the Spotlight – Ben Reeder

Ben ReederIt’s a pleasure welcome a fellow gamer and Urban Fantasy author Ben Reeder onto the blog today! Two of my own favorite things, right? Right!

About Ben Reeder

Ben Reeder was born to a military family in Hawai’i, and adopted by another military family. In his quest for adventure, fame and glory, he has done a lot of things, some of them even adventurous. Among his achievements, he’s been in the military, worked as a radio DJ for a college station, worked on a poultry farm, worked with developmentally disabled adults, done security work and worked in a New Age bookstore, to name a few things. Currently he lives with his girlfriend in Springfield, Missouri, where he practices long abandoned skills such as archery and sword fighting and attempts to herd cats. His writing partner, Musaba, a lion laboring under a tragic curse that has transformed him into an orange cat, claims credit for all the good parts of what he writes.

In the Spotlight – Lucy Pireel

Photo on 2012-12-07 at 18.56I had the pleasure of stopping by Lucy Pireel’s last month and I’m thrilled she’s stopped by to chat with me today about her collection of short stories, Red Gone Bad! Twisted fairy tales? Right up my alley!

About Lucy Pireel

Lucy Pireel loves to write and read. She does not limit herself to one genre, but writes what she thinks would work for a story. At times it means writing Science Fiction, or fairy tales, while some are pure erotica.

She is glad to have successfully self-published her first three books, while editing her full-length, paranormal, erotic novel at the same time. Of course she writes more too; there are always new ideas for stories playing through her head, ranging from flash to full length novels.

Lucy enjoys long walks in the great outdoors, or twist herself into a pretzel while doing yoga. All to unwind after a day of writing, or editing. At the moment she lives in the UK and enjoys the country and its people very much. She’s very much a people person.
