In the Spotlight – Kyle Floyd

Anatomy of a Book Trailer

It’s a pleasure to have Kyle Floyd on the blog today. Kyle is the artist who designed and drew my book trailer for my first novel, Relics. Which will be released May 1, 2013 by Crescent Moon Press.

Working with Kyle was an interesting, fun and rewarding collaboration! He is such an easy artist to work with, bringing his ideas to table and making my book trailer look better than I could have ever hoped. I’m always in tremendous awe of people who can draw. I cannot draw stick people. Seriously.

Since I couldn’t afford to do the “film” style of trailer, photos seemed the obvious choice and what most other trailers out there seemed to use. But I wanted something different and decided original art might be a fun change from photos.

In the Spotlight – Lynn Rush

Lynn Rush Author Photo

I do so enjoy my features with other authors. I get to meet new people and find out a little about their books. I also get to spotlight my author friends, which is particularly satisfying. Especially when  they are as cool as Lynn Rush. Okay, okay, so all of my author friends are pretty cool, but each one is special. And it’s a joy to have Lynn in the spotlight because not only is she prolific and savvy, she is a generous and giving person to her fellow authors. And very patient with a newbie like me and my questions.

In the Spotlight – Debra Driza

Today I get to feature Debra Driza and her fascinating YA novel Mila 2.0. I’ve been wanting to read this novel ever since I first heard about it and saw the gorgeous cover. I’m pleased that I’ll finally be able to start it in the next week or so. I did read the prequel Mila 2.0 Origins: The Fire, which was awesome. Also the novel has been optioned by the creator of Grey’s Anatomy for a TV show and a pilot has already been written. My fingers are crossed that we see Mila onscreen soon!

About Debra Driza

Debra is a member of the YA lit blogging group the Bookanistas and a former physical therapist who finds torturing her characters infinitely more enjoyable. She’s particularly fond of sweets, all that is random, and teen TV, and is pretty sure she wasn’t built in a computer science lab based on her inability to find her keys and master the common calender.

These days you can find her at her (messy) home in California, adding a variety of colors to her hair and wrangling one husband, two kids, and an assortment of Rhodesian Ridgebacks (all of which are varying degrees of naughty). MILA 2.0 is her first novel.
