Jennifer Adele

author pic 2Jennifer Adele is an independent author and nature gal, whose sense of adventure is only matched by her predilection for the magical and macabre. Her love of the written word in its various forms and her fascination with the symbolism inherent in all languages provides an ancient, deep, and eclectic background to her works. She is also an active lecturer and educator for many local groups and public education venues. Her written works on broad-based educational topics, plants, animals, symbolism, and a wide range of nature-based subjects, as well as her creative writings and fiction, have been frequently featured in national and international publications.

Ciara-Ballintyne-small

A brand new novella and short story by the fascinating author Ciara Ballintyne is our feature today. Let’s find out more about this exciting high fantasy!

About Ciara Ballintyne

Ciara Ballintyne was born in 1981 in Sydney, Australia, where she lives with her husband, two daughters, one masochistic cat, and one cat with a god complex. She holds degrees in law and accounting, and has been a practising financial services lawyer since 2004. She is both an idealist and a cynic.

She started reading epic fantasy at the age of nine, when she kidnapped Castle of Wizardry by David Eddings from her father. Another two years passed before she began her first attempts at the craft of writing. Confronting the Demon is her debut book.

She enjoys horse-riding, and speculation about taking over the world. If she could choose to be anything it would be a dragon, but instead she shares more in common with Dr. Gregory House of House. M.D.

In the Spotlight – Thomas Rydder

P1010004-croppedIt’s always fun when friends stop by to visit and today is no exception. Thomas Rydder is the author of the paranormal novel, The Clearing, and his story collection, Restless Souls: 3 dark fables. He’s fun, generous with his time and has a wicked sense of humor. Thomas is always quick with a word of support and encouragement to his fellow writers. He’s one of the good guys.

About Thomas Rydder

Thomas was born in 1957 in a small town in Western Pennsylvania that had — and still has — one traffic light. There wasn’t a whole lot to do there, so he learned to play quite a bit of make-believe – soldiers, cowboys and Indians, that kind of thing. At the same time, he loved to read and watch old movies.

Since childhood, he loved to create. Thomas played trumpet, sang, even dabbled in genealogy. Nothing quite did it for him. One day his wife suggested that he try writing. He wrote a short story, and everyone liked it. So, he wrote another one. Except it kept growing, and he kept getting more ideas, and it lengthened to 20 thousand words, then 30, then 40. By the time he sat back, he had the rough draft of his first novel, except back then it was called “Werewolves and Flapjacks”. Somewhere along the way he decided to submit his work to publishers. The result was The Clearing.

In the Spotlight – Avery Olive

Avery 2013A warm welcome to my friend, Avery Olive, author of the cool, paranormal, Young Adult novel, A Stiff Kiss

About Avery Olive

Avery Olive doesn’t kiss and tell. Except when it comes to writing about hot supernatural guys. She lives with her husband and son in Red Deer, Alberta, where she spends way too much time reading, writing and avoiding house work.

Currently, she’s the author of A Stiff Kiss, a young adult novel with a morbid twist on a classic fairytale, in reverse, and Won’t Let Go, involving an amnesic ghostboy who just won’t move on.

What she is sure of is that writing will always give her the chance to escape and hopes to release many more novels in the future.
