In the Spotlight – Alythia Brown

Photo 49Please join me in welcoming the enticing Alythia Brown to the blog today. Her recent novel is the intriguing Dakota Captive, a very different Urban Fantasy.

About Alythia Brown

Alythia Brown was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she now lives with her husband and their three small children. She found her inspiration to write Dakota Captive after traveling to North Dakota to return an authentic peace pipe to the Lakota Natives. The artifact had been picked up after the Massacre of Wounded Knee in 1890, and eventually ended up in the hands of one of her ancestors—who, in turn, told everyone it was a wagon spoke. Alythia is the author of two short stories, published in the Mertales anthology, and she aspires to publish many more books for children, teens, and young adults.

Ghosts & Portals & Thulukans! Oh My!

 Cover Reveal – “Unwanted Ghost”

Unwanted Ghost

I’m so pleased to show you the cover for the second prequel story in “The Thulukan Chronicles!” I plan to release this story in just a few weeks.

I’m also pleased to announce that Portals, Book 2 in The Thulukan Chronicles will be released in December, 2013! More info on both releases will be forthcoming in the near future.

About “Unwanted Ghost”

Thulu & La Fi have inherited an old, furnished Victorian. What they weren’t expecting was that the furnishings included a ghost.

Usually the Thulukans are happy to take on supernatural clients for their detective agency. But there’s something about Darla Redding that bothers La Fi – and with good reason. They discover that Darla has a much darker past than hinted at by her “normal” life. She’s definitely not a ghost they want haunting them. So, if they want to be rid of their unwelcome house ghost, Thulu and La Fi need to solve her murder.

“Unwanted Ghost” is the second prequel novelette to Relics in “The Thulukans Chronicles.”

In the Spotlight – Vanessa A. Ryan

Vanessa Ryan author pictureToday’s special Friday the 13th guest is the fabulous Vanessa A. Ryan. A triple threat as an author, actor and artist, I had the pleasure of meeting Vanessa in July. I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time as I would have liked getting to know someone with such a similar background to my own. One thing I do know is that she is talented, supportive and kind, and that’s something to treasure. She even writes in one of my own favorite genres!

About Vanessa A. Ryan

Vanessa A. Ryan is an actress in Southern California. She was born in California and graduated from UCLA. When not writing or acting, she enjoys painting and nature walks. Her paintings and sculptures are collected worldwide. At one point she performed stand up comedy, so her writing often reflects her love of humor, even for serious subjects. She lives with her cat Frannie, and among feral cats she has rescued.

Please read on for more about Vanessa and her first novel, A Blue Moon.

Lisa Brackmann was kind enough to be my Guest Host at Mysterious Galaxy last weekend. In this photo, she was reading my Bio aloud to the audience. I love this Bio and can say that because I didn’t write it. 🙂 It was written by a fabulous author who will be a guest on “in the Spotlight” in the near future. More on that later!

I’m very excited about returning to Southern California this weekend. I spent 22 years in SoCal. I went to high school there and got my degree from CSU Fullerton. I spent years on the SoCal stage performing for a dinner theatre and children’s repertory theatre in Orange County.

I’m going to be signing books and giving a reading from Relics this Saturday, July 13th at 2:30 PM at  Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach. If you live in SoCal, stop on by and say hi!

I’ll be holding a raffle and giving away a couple of prizes, including a Relics commemorative charm item such as those pictured below. I hope to see you there!
